What to see

Bruegel’s paintings in the Picture Gallery and the Kunstkammer’s collection of crafted objects make a manageable first visit. The grand staircase and domed interior are worth a stop too.

Allow about three hours for those collections and a break. Add more time for the antiquities collections.

The Naturhistorisches Museum across the square has separate admission.

Tickets and entry times

Adult admission costs €22 online or €24 at the museum; under-19s enter free. Timed entry applies from 8 September 2026.

Tickets bought before that date remain valid during ordinary opening hours without an additional slot.

The Tiqets “Skip The Line” ticket has a selected slot with a 15-minute entry window. Its rules differ from older open tickets, and the name does not mean you can bypass every entrance procedure.

Audio guides, tours and exhibition-specific arrangements may cost extra.

Autumn opening hours

From 5 October 2026 through 4 January 2027, KHM is listed as open daily from 10:00 to 18:00, with Thursday opening until 21:00. This includes Mondays.

Christmas Eve closes at 15:00; check the schedule for visits after 4 January.
