Leopold Museum or mumok

Start in the MuseumsQuartier courtyard. Choose Leopold for Schiele and Vienna 1900, or mumok for modern and contemporary exhibitions. Allow roughly two to three hours for either museum.

02 / Walk to Maria-Theresien-Platz

MuseumsQuartier courtyard

Leave the courtyard on the Museumsplatz side and use the designated crossings to reach Maria-Theresien-Platz. Tram lines and roads separate the museum buildings.

03 / Kunsthistorisches Museum

Kunsthistorisches Museum

KHM is on the southern side of Maria-Theresien-Platz, opposite the Natural History Museum. Visit the Picture Gallery or Kunstkammer if this is your chosen indoor stop. The two facing museums have separate admission.

04 / Neue Hofburg

Weltmuseum Wien, Neue Hofburg

Cross the Ring towards Heldenplatz and the Neue Hofburg. Weltmuseum admission includes the Imperial Armoury and Historic Musical Instruments. The palace exterior is the final stop if you are not visiting inside.

Practical notes

Allow about half a day with one museum and a break. The outdoor route is roughly 1–1.5 km, depending on crossings and entrances.

Museum admissions are separate unless covered by a specific combination ticket.

Weltmuseum opens 10:00–18:00 on 26 October and 21 and 28 December 2026; its café closes at 15:00 on those dates.
