Culture Detour

A considered
edit.

Culture Detour is an independent guide to art and museums around the world, beginning with Paris. It helps you choose a museum, understand the reason to go and leave enough time to enjoy it. Official museum and booking links make it easy to check the practical details before you travel.

Start with the art

The guides begin with collections, exhibitions, architecture and the shape of a rewarding visit. Each city edit is a starting point for exploring, with room for different interests and budgets. Suggested pairings and visit lengths are editorial judgments to help you plan your own day.

Sources you can follow

Practical details are checked against official museum pages wherever possible. Each guide links to its sources and shows when it was reviewed. Opening times, prices and exhibitions can change, so the official links are the place for a final check before you set out.

Useful details, with their limits

A work can belong to a collection without being on display. Usual opening hours may change on holidays. When sources disagree or a booking total cannot be confirmed, the guide makes that uncertainty clear so you can make an informed choice.

Researched with care

These guides are researched from the museum sources cited on each page. They offer context and planning suggestions without claiming a personal visit. Suggested durations and routes are editorial estimates, leaving you free to spend longer with what interests you.

A little room for real life

Queues, weather, room closures and changing access arrangements can affect a museum day. The guides highlight useful limitations and link to the venue for accessibility details, exhibition access and ticket conditions. Leave a little flexibility around the parts of the day that matter most.

Booking links and independence

The current booking links are ordinary, untracked links. No affiliate commission is enabled for these offers. Official museum links are provided so that readers can compare direct admission with any optional guided visit or third-party ticket.

A museum ticket, a live guided tour and a ticket bundled with a digital audio app are different products. A provider link is not a guarantee of availability, a lowest-price claim or an endorsement of every product sold on that platform. Security checks still apply.

Photography

Documentary photographs have separate captions and source credits. An image shows a particular moment and does not guarantee that a room, artwork or installation will look the same during your visit.

Keeping the guide current

Details can change between checks. The official museum links provide the latest operating information. Verified corrections are reflected in the affected guide and its review date; when information remains uncertain, the guide says so.
