The Secession is an artist-run exhibition space known for its gold-leaf dome and Klimt’s Beethoven Frieze. The frieze extends around a room, while the other galleries host changing contemporary exhibitions.
Allow about an hour, with more time for the current installations.
The autumn 2026 contemporary shows end on 22 November, and the next group opens on 4 December. During exhibition changeovers, only the Beethoven Frieze is on view.

Adult admission is €13 and covers the Beethoven Frieze and any current exhibitions that are open. Under-12s enter free, and students under 26 pay €7.50.
The audio guide costs €3 extra; live tours are separate, with different language options.
Admission is free on the first Wednesday of each month, including 4 November and 2 December 2026. The December date falls during the contemporary exhibition changeover.
Groups must arrange a time slot.
The Secession is at Friedrichstraße 12, near Karlsplatz and the Naschmarkt. Normal opening is Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00–18:00.
