SCULPTURE, RAPHAEL AND THE SISTINE CHAPEL
02 / BERNINI AND CARAVAGGIO
Galleria Borghese displays Bernini sculpture and Caravaggio paintings in a decorated villa.
Published date exception: 2026-12-25, closed. Confirm the museum calendar before visiting.
Researched schedule through 2026-12-31. Later dates need an official recheck.
Bernini’s Apollo and Daphne shows Daphne’s transformation into a tree in marble, from skin and hair to leaves and bark. Caravaggio’s paintings and the villa’s decorated rooms are other reasons to visit.
The collection spans two levels, so leave time for paintings as well as sculpture.
Reservations are mandatory for everyone, including visitors entitled to free admission or a booking-fee exemption. Regular visits last two hours, with a shorter final slot.
The museum says it does not offer skip-the-line access: visitors wait for their reserved entry slot.
Allow time for ticket and bag procedures before your slot, including the walk through the surrounding park. A Roma Pass also requires the museum’s reservation arrangement.
Standard adult admission is €16 plus a mandatory €2 reservation fee; temporary exhibitions may change the price. Under-eighteens enter free.
Check eligibility before choosing the €2 reduced-admission category.
Tickets for first Sundays and other institutional free days are released ten days in advance. The booking fee normally still applies on free days.
Ordinary hours are Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00–19:00. The museum closes on Mondays and specified holidays.
