Vatican Museums and Galleria Borghese

Ancient art

The Capitoline Museums have ancient sculpture and a picture gallery; Palazzo Massimo is known for Roman frescoes and mosaics, and Altemps for classical sculpture. Massimo and Altemps share a National Roman Museum ticket. At Altemps, the Ludovisi Throne is on loan and the ground-floor Gorga room is closed.

Castel Sant’Angelo

Castel Sant’Angelo combines a Roman tomb, a fortress and decorated papal rooms. Its usual Monday closure has first-Monday afternoon exceptions through December 2026, and building works can change the visitor route. Passetto di Borgo visits are sold separately.
